Now it's really Christmas! Elizabeth is home until she leaves for AZ on Jan 2. This weekend we are having our Christmas with George, Beth, and Gabe, JT, and John J (Jenny had to work).
George and Beth got 6 tickets to the Joffrey's Nutcracker at Auditorium Theater. Beth stayed home with the boys and her mother accompanied us to this fantastic event! The sets were wonderful and I loved the snow, the snow scene costumes, the flower petals, Clara's horse..... The falling snow outside added to the magical Christmasy atmosphere, instead of being an annoyance.
We spent a few hours in Macy's in downtown Chicago. We saw Martha's tree in the Walnut Room and enjoyed the decorations in the Christmas rooms.
I got my Secret Santa present at Macy's and hope she likes it as much as I do. Beth got something perfect for my mom. And John J took care of his Secret Santa gift, too.
Beth taught Elizabeth to knit this weekend.
I think there's a photo of everyone in their scarf that I'll be able to add eventually.
OK--now a funny story at Elizabeth's expense. George and Beth are head residents of part of a dorm and have a very nice, medium sized apartment, but we filled it up considerably so Elizabeth moved in to an empty dorm room. (There are several on the same floor as their apartment.) George and Beth are cat sitting for a grey cat named Tibalt, who likes to suck on earlobes. So, in the middle of the night, the cat got in bed with Elizabeth and tried to lick her ears. She woke up in a dorm room, just not the RIGHT dorm room and she was yelling for her roommate, Alex, about why there was a cat in their room. She went out into the hall trying to figure out what dorm she was transmorgified into!
