What a beautiful baby---and his older brother is pretty handsome, too! I am surely blessed with grandsons! :-)
I have been chilling out at home the last week and a half. I have finished knitting a baby sweater and the cashmere blend booties, as well as a pink Silverlash scarf for Elizabeth. I made myself a kid mohair and wool tube scarf (having nearly frozen solid on recess duty wearing an acrylic neck tube one day), mailed off a mohair blend scarf for a friend of Elizabeth, and made another neck tube to give a teacher's aide who spends lots of time on recess duty. I read two books. Plus I did work a day and a half. Mom and I have made about three trips to town (and I got my blood work done, realizing that I was a couple of weeks late on that!!).
I've been thinking about family and friends in KY and Ohio and hoping all of them are warm and comfortable. The ice storm was a bad one I hear.
I plan to be back in Chicago next weekend if all goes as planned. John C will take me up, with Elizabeth, and they will come home the next day, leaving me in Chicago for awhile.

Back to Iowa

I'm heading back to Iowa today! The new baby will be here early next week! So, I'll be going back to Chicago after Beth's mom uses some of her vacation time and will stay with them for about a week later on. And of course we hope to all be together somehow when CHARLES COMES OUT IN FEBRUARY!!!!!!!
Beth and I had a great time looking at yarns at Loopy Yarns. They were the sorts of yarns you usually only see in knitting books and magazines. We each bought something on sale--and then we went to Michael's. :-) We've both had knitting projects going. I'm doing a baby sweater and booties and she's doing a blanket. Plus I finished another scarf for George and have one almost done for Elizabeth.
Gabe and I had a great time reading books. The one in the photo is Little Critter's "Just a Mess". Gabe thought one of the pages was hysterically funny (see photo).
I've had a great time with JT and Gabe and loved visiting John J, George, and Beth!!!!

JT gets to visit Gabe in Chicago

I'm in Chicago!!! My two little dolls got to spend time together! It was cold but we were bundled up in a very warm car and only out for seconds.
I may go home by train tomorrow--or stay till Monday to help Beth with an appointment. She will PROBABLY have the baby next week so I will be coming back when her Mom's time off starts running low.

Plans

Plans now are for us to go to Chicago Thursday. We were leaving tomorrow in the early evening but the weather looks NONE TOO GOOD for that. JT has leaned to repeat color names while holding various colored blocks. We have role played rolling a ball back and forth for him and role played at his huge toy stove and sink. He has tried lots of new fresh fruits and veggies. He's had a swim lesson, a story time at the library, and a trip to church. The church nursery is VERY NICE! I could do some other things with them this week through the weekend but Jenny has had this week off, except for school, so will probably leave Thurs.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GEORGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Elizabeth had a safe trip out to Tucson/Phoenix!! Charles picked her up at 11:15 on Friday night.
John C and I left early Saturday morning for Kenosha and had a quick trip up, with good weather and little snow here. John C left for home today but I'll be here until next weekend. John J, JT, and I will probably go down to Chicago for a brief visit with George, Beth, and Gabe next weekend. I'll go home by train on Sunday, if all things work out.
Elizabeth got her hair cut just after Christmas. A couple of photos of her with short hair are in the slide show. She hasn't had hair that short since early childhood so I'm still getting used to it. I got mine cut the same day and it would have been nice if the hair they cut off her could have been added to mine!!
Also, I have added photos of JT playing with his little train set up, which was a big hit. Grandpa Weyer and Elizabeth were responsible for the making of the play set for Thomas the Train.
